World Campus – Japan Program Presentations held in Europe!

In late 2010, WCI held “World Campus – Japan 2011 Program Presentations” and WCI Alumni Gatherings in Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France. Over 200 interested people attended the presentations and quite many of them have already applied for the upcoming World Campus – Japan Program.

There will be another series of presentations planned in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein in February 2011. (Contact yhufford@worldcampus.org to find out the exact dates and locations.)

暑い夏のお祭り！

暑い夏の日、我孫子駅のすぐ横で“かっぱ祭り”が開催されました。ワールドキャンパス2010年夏プログラムも終わりに近づき、日に日に忙しいスケジュールになってきました。

私たちが何をしたかをお話する前に、“かっぱ祭り”について説明したほうが良いですよね？そして、“かっぱ”が何なのかも説明しておきます。“かっぱ”は水の中に住む生き物で、蛙に鳥のくちばしが付いて、頭の上にお皿がのっているような不思議な姿をしています。

“かっぱ祭り”は我孫子市でとても大切なお祭りです。私たちも参加させていただいたミュージックパフォーマンスやパレード、たくさんの出店、そして竹で作ったキャンドルホルダーで公園を飾り、日本的な風景で締めくくります。私たちもキャンドルの準備をお手伝いしました。

ここで説明したように“かっぱ祭り”では人生のお祝いをしているのです。プログラム参加者はこのお祭りに参加するだけでなく、お祭りの準備も手伝うことができました。

我孫子市の人たちが一年を通して、このお祭りのためにどのように準備をしているのかを見ることができたのは良い経験でした。当日、プラン通りにお祭りがいくよう彼らは一生懸命です。

みんなで“かっぱ祭り”を盛り上げ、楽しむことができました。我孫子市の:“かっぱ祭り”は、この日とても国際的でした。
