Meet Yui Mihara in Summer 2011!

Yui Mihara

Konnichiwa!

My name is Yui and I’m the Operation Manager for the 2011 World Campus – Japan program. Logistic and communicating with each local organizing committee on the road with the General Manager, Hideto Yasui is my major responsibility. I will also work closely to other managers to assist their areas and will be the interpreter. Osaka is where I come from and one of the places you may get to experience this summer.

I worked for WCI last summer and it became an invaluable experience in my life. The experience and people I met on the road gave me an opportunity to rediscover my own country, culture and my own values.

Working with people from various nationalities domestically and internationally in the past dacade taught me how to understand each other, yet to still accomplish personal and common goals. It’s a great challenge that I always enjoy. I appreciate diversity and have a big passion for meeting people especially with youth. It will be something I’d love to pursue throughout my life. Traveling, dancing and painting are things that can always please me and delight my life.

I hope this experience will not only give you a bigger knowledge about Japan, but also about the world, new perspective upon life and yourself to find more paths to follow and more doors to open!

Welcome to Japan!
The adventure is about to begin and I’m so thrilled to meet you all!

Meet Alenna Cheng in Summer 2011!

Alenna

Hello everyone,

It is my pleasure to be a part of the team. I am from Taiwan. My name is Cheng Yi-Ting. I am 22years now. My friends call me “Alenna” or “Umi”. I will be the External Relations Intern for the 2011 World Campus – Japan program, and I am very willing to share a good time with all the participants and partners, and I will learn and work hard in order to make a successful program.

My major in my university is “Japanese studies,” and I also take a lot of English courses, too. I have been working as a volunteer in National Youth Commission, where I learned the happiness of helping people and how much I love meeting people from the other countries.

Thanks to World Campus International for giving me the valuable opportunity to get to know people from different countries and share my own culture. I love Japanese culture very much. I will do my best to create beautiful memories with you guys.

I can’t wait to meet you all, the excellent participants and partners.

Meet Frank Floris in Summer 2011!

Frank Floris

Hallo,

My name is Frank Floris, just call me Frank. I will be the Education Intern, supporting the Education Manager, Celi Dolovitz. Celi and I will be responsible for the education related parts of the 2011 World Campus – Japan program, which will be a lot of fun, I assure you. I’m from the Netherlands living in the city of Leiden and a World Campus alumnus from the 2010 program.

The reason I’m living in Leiden is that I’m attending university there, studying Japanese and nearing the end of my second year. I have great interest in Japanese as a language and am intrigued by Japanese culture as well. My hope is to become a translator or teacher, though teaching or translating what exactly and where is still vague.

World Campus-Japan program is giving me the opportunity to expand my horizon even further, allowing me to learn more about people and countries all over this world, and similarly allows me to teach others about my own country. Being the education intern should also test me for my future career path. Ultimately I hope to assure that you will have at least as great a time in Japan as I had last year.

I look forward to meeting all of you,

Frank Floris

Meet Brandon Serna in Summer 2011!

Brandon Serna

Hello,

My name is Brandon Serna and I’m from Denver, Colorado in the USA. I’m 22 years old and have a huge passion for travel and working with youth. I have the privilege to be the external relations manager for the 2011 WCI summer program, in which I will be working close with public relations partners, all types of media outlets, letting people know about all the great things WCI has to offer and preparing WCI for its current and future journey’s.

My passion being working with youth and travel have brought me a lot of joy and adventure for the past 3 ½ years. I’ve been working and marketing for other NGO’s that has given me the knowledge and curiosity to explore the world and what makes people and cultures unique. To say I have friends in over 30 countries and have had the opportunity to visit half of them is quite a gift!

I am also a huge fan of history and culture and to be able to experience Japan through WCI is giving both of those categories a lot attention. I believe WCI offers a one of a kind experience to travel through Japan, emerge in the culture and traditions and create life-long friends from all over the world!

May our Japanese adventures start soon,

Brandon Serna

Meet Angela Hsiao – participant in summer 2011!

Angela Hsiao

Hello everyone!

I am Angela Hsiao from Taiwan, currently an eighteen-year-old student graduating from high school. And I am going to be one of the participants of World Campus – Japan program this summer!

Travel has always been my dream, and I’d love to learn and experience different cultures, cuisine, and languages. Different from ordinary touring, living with host families and participating in daily lives with the communities would provide me a unique perspective to get to understand local Japanese culture. Besides, I’m so looking forward to make new friends! Hopefully I can have fun and learn a lot during this special program.

Can’t wait to meet you in Japan!
