We are in Omura!

Arrival in Omura

Meeting Japanese Host Family

After long hours of traveling, the participants have finally arrived in Omura, Nagasaki, Japan, the starting point of the first summer ’09 program!

In the afternoon the Omura LOC, named ‘Up with Omura’, welcomed the World Campus International members and matched them with their excited host families.

Despite their jet-lag, all the participants were eager to meet their very first Japanese host family!

Today, World Campus International staff members along with the purple-adorned Arao LOC (local organizing committee) participated in the Charity Bazaar at the Arao City Mall. As a group of gaijins (foreigners in Japanese), we attracted much attention to our booth! There were hand-crafted goodies galore, including scarves, tissue boxes, and flower arrangements, all of which were donated by the generous LOC. We also took this opportunity to promote and share about World Campus – Japan with the local community of Arao! Funds raised by the event will go towards helping host future participants.

Mr. Yasui’s Reunion!

Staff Meeting 4 Summer 2009

On the 3rd day of meetings, all the staff members were still working hard and enjoying the preparation for upcoming fun trip.

From the series of meetings, I can see and feel passion and enthusiasm towards the successful outcomes of the World Campus – Japan Summer 2009 tour. The main topic for the day was going through the overview of the entire schedule for the tour.

Another main event was that Mr. Hideto Yasui (General Manager) has finally arrived here in Arao! His arrival made the meetings even more constructive and fun. I think a lot of cool stuff is coming because I’m already having so much fun with the preparation.

Summer Staff ’09 Kick off!

WCI Staff Training Day One in Summer '09

With less than a week to go before the World Campus – Japan Summer 2009 tour begins, the diverse group of staff members (from Mexico, USA, Italy, and Japan) is working hard to prepare for the program! After a morning of self-introductions and getting to know each other, staff training commenced in Hiro’s home in Arao. First, he explained the mission and vision of WCI, followed by the program components and policies and guidelines. The intense preparation will continue until participants arrive!
